Saxon is a 32 year old social entrepreneur. He has a degree in International Business from Pepperdine University and a Master’s in Nonprofit Management. Saxon had the privilege of studying at China’s most prestigious university in Shanghai and served in the U.S. Army. There he deployed to Senegal in Western Africa and managed military equipment valued at $6.4 billion in total. He grew up in Murphy, Oregon, a small town with a population of less than 200 people. Here are some questions and answers from Saxon: What's the biggest challenge you've faced by working with refugees? “Learning to speak Spanish, to fundraise, to adapt, and to find the courage to stand with a despised people group. I have been threatened and hated, faced lawsuits, and have been slandered by many. I must be doing something right.” - What's the greatest lesson you learned by working with and for refugees? “The Lord will provide. Countless times we’ve had our back against the wall and help has come from the most unexpected places with astonishing timing. My wife, my children, and I gave up our lives in Southern California where we were successful and comfortable. We spent all of our savings to start this movement and when our money ran out, it just started to be given to us. The Lord is good and this leap of faith has shown me that He can be trusted completely.” - What would you say to others who have not had the experience of working with refugees? “You can start now. You won’t be disappointed.”
