Mission
The Cuenca Youth Orchestra (CYO) is a multi-cultural youth orchestra building bridges and community through the healing power of music.
Vision
Cuenca Youth Orchestra, a multi-cultural founding member for youth orchestras across South America, models compassion, excellence, and diversity in the community through promoting artistic expression and appreciation for all peoples.
Core Values
- Safety: We provide a safe environment for youth to develop their talent and values.
- Empowerment: We provide youth the opportunity to gain dignity and increase their capacities and confidence to be productive members of society.
- Community: CYO is a community that leads to social transformation as it invites all groups of people in Cuenca to develop understanding and appreciation of all.
- Commitment: We make consistent efforts to provide and support youth with life skills and quality musical education.
- Excellence: We strive for excellence as the standard for participation in the CYO.
Sector and Type of Project
This project is of a SOCIAL nature because through its implementation we seek to benefit children and young people in human mobility and vulnerability throughout the canton. Services of a personal, material, and technical nature will also be provided, either through individual professional practice or through institutions.
In this sense, the project’s implementation is directed at the social sector with special emphasis and attention on training, accompaniment, and development of musical activity, along with the preservation of national, Latin American, and international music through the performance of the same.
Conclusion
The Cuenca Youth Orchestra project aims to leverage the transformative power of music to foster social integration, cultural understanding, and professional development among young musicians in Cuenca. By building on the strengths of the GRACE Foundation and addressing the identified challenges, this initiative will create lasting impacts on both the individual and community levels. Through careful planning, strategic implementation, and consistent evaluation, the CYO will become a beacon of cultural excellence and social cohesion in Ecuador and beyond.
