Kitchen Supplies
Kitchen Supplies are generally considered too heavy to carry when fleeing a nation; even so, a remarkable amount of Venezuelans moved their budget out of the country. That is a specialized cast iron pan used for making the national staple of Venezuela: the arepa. As Karla, the Executive Director of Fundación Grace, says, “If we go more than two days without an arepa, we start to feel sad.” Still, a kitchen needs a whole host of instruments to become a home, so we distribute stoves, pots and pans, utensils, blenders, and other kitchen must-haves. We operate as a community redistribution center; when we donate items, we redistribute them to those who need them. However, the demand of those in need far outweighs the supply that the community generously provides. For this reason, we face a constant shortage of these supplies.
